What are the main components of lithium battery materials

June 15th at 10:19am

The composition of lithium battery materials mainly includes positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, electrolyte, and separator. Among them, the positive and negative electrode materials are the core materials of lithium batteries, while the electrolyte and separator are the mediators for the transfer of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes.

The four main materials of lithium batteries include:

Positive electrode material: The positive electrode material of lithium-ion batteries usually uses metal oxides, such as lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4), lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2), and lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4).

Negative electrode materials: The negative electrode materials of lithium-ion batteries mainly include graphite and silicon. Graphite is currently the mainstream choice for negative electrode materials in lithium batteries, while commonly used silicon negative electrode materials are still under research.

Electrolyte: Electrolyte is an important medium for the transfer of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes. Usually, the electrolyte of lithium batteries uses organic solvents such as carbonates and polyethylene glycol.

Diaphragm: A diaphragm is a thin film material that separates the positive and negative poles. Polymer materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene are generally used.
